Bar100′s Exclusive 2nd Birthday Cocktail Party

Bar100 celebrated its 2nd birthday in style, transformed into a 1960′s Andy Warhol Studio 54 playground. Rob Edwards from The Voice and Chloe West sang brilliantly to DJ J Connection’s tunes that were a mix of contemporary and retro. Big Brother intruder Justynn was wearing a t-shirt with the Andy Warhol quote “In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes”, which we got to talk about with him. Chandon was flowing and the cocktails, including Lychee Traders and Midori 54, were sensational. There was so much food we were “chocka block”. One of our favourites was the salt and pepper squid in cones. To top it off we had flourless chocolate cake topped with mounted Smarties.

George Souris MP, Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore, Echo Entertainment Chairman John O’Neill and the entertaining Festival Director Lieven Bertels. May we say we were amazed. Paddock To Plate Launch Party

The launch for Matt Moran’s new series Paddock To Plate, which is to air on Foxtel’s Lifestyle Channel, was absolutely splendid. It went beyond what we have come to know and love from celebrity chef Matt Moran and his Chiswick team at picturesque Chiswick Gardens in Woollahra.

Celebrities in attendance included Matt Moran, Kerri-Anne and John Kennerley, INXS lead guitarist Kirk Pengilly and seven-time surfing world champion Layne Beachley, and Logie-winning TV and movie actor Richard Roxburgh.

Eveyone left full. The variety and quality of the canapes made it hard to resist eating another one over and over again. The standouts were the Sea Bounty mussels in chorizo, tomato and toasted brioche, crumbed and crunchy Mandagery Creek Venison sliders with red cabbage slaw, Sher Wagyu Beef seared with Matt’s mustard, Snowy River Station samphire and seared tuna nicoise, Eastwind Rare breed Pork belly buns with hoisin and shallots, Goats Farmers slow cooked goat with hummus and mint in a pancake, and Blueberry Farm tart with custard apple fool. Anthony Puharich from Victor Churchill, Woollahra who supplies meats to Chiswick was there enjoying the VIP event.

We got to see a trailer for the show. It looks fantastic. Seeing some of the ingredients Matt sources and makes dishes with whet our appetite to see the series.

Grease Opening Night

Grease was the word and 50s was the style last night at the Sydney Lyric for the opening night followed by the after party in the dress circle foyer hosted by John Frost. Key cast included Rob Mills playing John Travolta’s character Danny, Gretel Scarlett playing Olivia Newton-John’s character Sandy, Bert Newton, Todd McKenny, and Anthony Callea just to name a few. The cast did a great job and made for an original show with influences from Australian success stories like Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Channel 7′s Dancing With The Stars which made for lots of laughs. The music too was very entertaining with up-tempo classics like Grease Lightning. I was bopping in my seat.

Celebrities in attendance were Sunrise reporter James Tobin, Today show presenter Richard Wilkins and MTV VJ and model Kate Peck. Hi 5′s Lauren Brant and Mary Lascaris, Danielle Spencer, and Home & Away’s Rhiannon Fish and Lisa Gormley, just to name a few. Kate looked sensational with a 50s inspired ensemble of black leather pants, black top and folded scarf around her head. Also in attendance was the Minister for Tourism, The Hon George Souris.

The after party food was 50s and drive-in esqe such as hamburger and hot dog sliders, macaroni and cheese, pop corn and ice cream cones.

Piper-Heidsieck Spring Carnival Bar Launch

High profile guests included actress and filmmaker Alyssa McClelland, Chadwick modelling mogul Martin Walsh and wife model Michelle, MTV presenter and model Kate Peck, fashion presenter and stylist Amber Renae, Channel 9 journalist and TODAY Show reporter Sylvia Jeffreys, TV and movie actors Roy Billings and Michael Caton, MasterChef celebrities Justine Schofield, Courtney Roulston, and Alvin Quah, music and television presenter Penne Dennison, TV presenter and DJ Georgia Sinclair, and TV and radio presenter Mieke Buchan.

The Piper-Heidsieck was flowing left, right and centre to the guests delight. The French champagne came in regular sized bottles and magnums. And we thought the canapes were great. So did the MasterChef guests. The Bellevue Hotel put on a tantalising variety. Our and many guests favourite were the gin cured salmon.

A night to remember and a great place for drinking Piper-Heidsieck.
