On Thursday, Reebok celebrated the 25th anniversary of their iconic Pump shoe at Luxe Studios, Darlinghurst.
150 media and celebrities paid tribute partying to explosive dance acts by the globally acclaimed ‘Destructive Steps’, music by DJ sensation YO! Mafia, live painting of graffiti art, and a showcase display of over 52 historic pairs of Pump shoes.
Guests including Home and Away’s Demi Harman, A Place to Call Home star Abby Earl, and 2Day FM’s Jules Lund enjoyed Crystal Head vodka cocktails, Kopparberg premium cider, Singha beer, Exclusive Vines wines, Fiji Water, and Red Bull.
Released in 1989 as a basketball high-top shoe, the Reebok Pump was the most technological advanced shoe of its time in the athletic shoe market becoming something of a status symbol on and off the basketball court, with Atlanta Hawks and nine time NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins, 12 season veteran of the NBA, Dee Brown, Michael Chang (tennis), Shaquille O’Neil (basketball), and John Cena (WWE Wrestling) just to name a few, wearing them.
